Maddox's Four Month Check Up
We just got back from Dr. Anderson's office. Maddox is still zonked out in her carseat. She got 2 shots today and it seemed the crying stopped a little bit sooner than last time but it was still VERY traumatic......for both her and I. She is up to 12lbs 6oz and is 25 inches long. She is in the 25th percentile for her weight ( a bit higher) and the 75th for her height ( a lot higher) compared to her 2 month check up. Dr. Anderson is happy with her numbers and isn't worried about her sleeping so much both at night and during the day. He says she'll wake up when she is hungry and per her numbers she is getting enough. He said we could start giving her rice cereal if we wanted. But I don't think her head control is quite there yet, so with his recommendation we'll wait a bit longer. I did tell him about her interest in food and he said that was a good indication she'd be ready when her head got a bit more stable. He says we start giving her cereal not really for calories...but more to introduce new textures/tastes/experiences to her. That should be fun. Let's see what else. He was happy with the report that she is pooping several times a day now but indicated that during this period of her life, pooping can be very inconsistent so not to be alarmed if she reverted back to her every 10 days or so schedule. So we go back again end of March for some more shots and another check up.

Sleepy weekend 1-24-10
As you can see Maddox is still really liking the bumbo seat. Although I did sort of get one of her legs stuck getting her out of it last night. Luckily she has a short memory and was happy to sit in it again this morning. We didn't do anything extremely exciting this weekend. Which probably suits Maddox, because she slept most of the weekend away. She is a GREAT sleeper and a pretty darn good napper as well. We are having to almost force feed her during the day to make sure she is getting enough to eat, because she is sleeping so much. But, we'll take it! She is must happier when she is rested. She still hasn't officially rolled over but she has moved her body every which way but over. She turned herself 360 degrees around on her back this morning playing on her quilt. She is getting really interested in food....OUR food that is. She very intently watches our food and the fork and how it travels from the plate to our mouths. A few times she has raised an eyebrow as if to say 'Where is mine?'. Pretty soon there'll be little fingers on our plates grabbin' at whatever they can. We go to see Dr. Anderson tomorrow for her 4 month check up. If I remember right she'll get some more shots. Maybe she won't have quite the reaction she did after the last set. Maybe??

bumbo seat
Maddox and I are hanging out at home today....Mom's day off and an ice storm brewin' outside. The pink thing she is sitting in in the second picture is a 'Bumbo' seat. I think in the future it will be a great 'containing device'.....but for now it faciliates head and trunk control. She seems to really like the more upright view of the world. It is a little big for her right now so we don't let her wobble too long but probably another week or so and it will fit perfectly. I've yet to get a good picture of her in it with her smiling. I think she has to concentrate really hard to hold her head up...not enough energy left to work up a smile. All in time!

Before and After Pictures
Laura and I thought this was hilarious. Here are two pictures of Maddox - one is just before Laura took her to Kim's for the day, the other is on the way home from Kim's. Evidently hanging out and playing with the other kids is harder than it looks!

Our first full week of work and daycare!
PHEW!! Glad this week is over! This was my first full week (3 days) back to work and Maddox's first full week at Kim's....the sitter! Maddox had a great week...Mom on the other hand is exhausted!! It is quite the job getting organized enough to get out the door not forgetting anything.... to deliver Maddox to Kim's in the morning and get to my first patient. I barely got her to Kim's by 9/9:30 most mornings this week but, I know we'll soon get into a good routine and everything will start to click like clock work. Now I just need to find someone to do my paperwork at night while I play with Maddox!! Maddox is really doing well per the reports I get each afternoon from Kim. Kim keeps track of her naps, when she eats, poopy and wet diapers and then gives me this sort of little written report with all the details so I know just about exactly what is going on there. And....she is doing really well....sleeping in the pack -n- play for naps, taking all her bottles, dirtying diapers and clothes like she should be. Maddox has a new buddy named Lexy there. Kim has a 3 year old little girl named Lexy and Lexy has really takin' a likin' to Maddox. Maddox just smiles at her and Kim says Lexy keeps Maddox entertained a lot of times when Kim is getting the older kids lunch etc. It is very comforting to see Maddox just smiling away at Lexy when I head off to work. So all is well. Maddox has turned into a CHAMPION pooper. I am thinking maybe the 'virus' she had last week was just her little body finally starting to work...as you all know she wasn't such a good pooper the first 3 1/2 months of her life. Now...completely the opposite. Maybe her body has finally kicked into gear! More like a normal baby now. She is so happy....cooing and smiling, reaching for objects, laughing ( you'll see in the video I'll post this weekend...hilarious) blowing bubbles, finding her feet. She is very fun! We go for her 4 month check up in about a week. I'll post some pictures later this weekend.....

Our First Attempt
Hi all.....Eric and I thought we'd start a blog to let you know what we're up to as a family. Maddox is growing so fast! Hopefully this way you'll always have access to new pictures and what new things she is up to. This will take the place of the long winded emails I've been trying to write every couple of weeks with 'Maddox progress'. We're just figuring out the technology so please bare with use the first few months. I'll try to post new info and pictures on a regular basis. Enjoy!
