So yesterday Grammy and I took Kennon for his 2 week check up and he passed with flying colors. He now weighs 8lbs 4 ounces and is 21 inches long....passing up his birth numbers of 7lbs 7ounces and 19 inches long. I wasn't surprised to hear that he was over 8lbs as he is a REALLY good eater...not the best sleeper thusfar....but we are working on that. He did go 2 3 hour stretches last night ( I think....my hours are starting to all run together). Dr. Anderson was happy with how he looked and he even pulled off Kennon's VERY SCABBY and PRETTY STUCK umbilical cord. It was not the most pleasant thing to watch but we are happy to have it off so we can give him a REAL bath now. We have been doing some tummy time, but I have been afraid we were going to bother his cord, so now we won't have to worry about that anymore. We won't go back to Dr. Anderson now until the middle of August for his 2 month check up. However we have an ultrasound of his hips scheduled for July 20th. Apparently this is standard protocal when you have a breech baby. The ultrasound is to check the approximation and alignment of his hips to determine if he'll need any intervention...bracing, therapy etc. Dr. Anderson alluded to the fact that he thought his hips were not that bad in comparison to other breech babies he has seen so we'll see what the ultrasound shows. Maddox is still having her good and bad moments adjusting to the new situation. But, I think it is safe to say there are more good than bad moments. However for the last 2 weeks we have been having the Grandmas focus on HER on the days that she doesn't go to Kim's so we'll see come Monday what happens when it is just Maddox, Kennon and I. Have to say I'm a bit scared of being completely solo but have to do that sometime. My energy level and pain levels are significantly better and a couple more days I'll be even better. It is evident Maddox loves her brother and asks about 'BABY' when he isn't around or when she comes home from Kim's. She hasn't quite mastered saying 'Kennon' yet but boy she is really starting to know TONS of words and can say a lot of them. She said JIM yesterday for Grandpa Jim and is getting better at Grandma Jean and Grammy as well. I can't even begin to list all the words that she knows and she is starting to say phrases as well like 'I DID IT'. It is really remarkable how many new things she can learn in a day. She is getting good at using her spoon, getting dressed, and putting her toys away. Thanks again to the Grandmas who have been helping us out the last 2 weeks....laundry, cleaning, cooking, chaperoning Maddox , and rocking Kennon in the wee hours. It has been a tremendous boost. Thanks for all the goodies in the freezer as well. It is so nice to be able to just pull something out of the freezer and throw it in the oven. We are SO LUCKY to live close enough to get such great help and for our kids to grow up close to the Grandparents!!
