Happy birthday buddy. We love you! |
So we had a fantastic birthday party for Kennon on Saturday complete with pulled pork, potato salad, chips ( even Cheetos!!! ) fruit and of course cake and ice cream. I have tons of pictures so I'll try not to 'talk' too much. Thanks to everyone for making the trip over. It was nice to have all the grandparents around. An especially big thanks to Great Grandma Reta!! We know it is a job getting over to our place, out of your own environment. We are so glad you got to join in the celebration. Kennon ( and Maddox) were showered with gifts. I absolutely love the pictures of the kids in the new bag chairs from Grammy and Papa Dick. Some of the expressions on Kennon's face are absolutely priceless. He is a book lover as you can see from the picture of him reading the Go Train Go book!! I think he has been observing Maddox with her books for months, it is just old hat to him. Thanks for all the board books. He is really HARD on regular books. We appreciate the durability you kept in mind when purchasing the books. Kennon didn't really tear into his cake as I had expected him to. But, I will say, that he was pretty tired by the time we actually got to the cake. I"m not sure he ate any of the actual cake but he sure did like the frosting. Maddox ended up opening most of his gifts. He was stuck on the new turtle sippy cup, plate, bowel etc from Jaci Alex Mark and Veta that he opened first! He was happy banging all the pieces together and needed a little coaxing to move on to another present. By the end he started liking the sound of the wrapping paper ripping. The finale of the present opening was the water table from Grammy and Papa Dick and the scooter from Grandpa Jim and Grandma Jean. Kennon was sure to pick up the scooter and start a'pushing it. He, like Maddox, doesn't like to sit down and use his legs. He'd much rather be up and pushing whatever it is he can, including things that aren't supposed to be pushed like chairs! I swear he is SOOOO close to walking. All day long today he has been standing up on his own completely free of an object. I can see he is just thinking about taking a step and then down he goes. But, it won't be long. You can see he definitely likes being upright and independent. It was a long night last night. Maddox slept well, as usual, but Kennon was up and crying and unhappy several times. Not sure if he is getting teeth or what. Several times today he literally had the biggest crying fit/tantrum that we've ever seen him have complete with arching his back and kicking his legs!! Is he starting the terrible 2's already?? Boy are we gonna be in for it. But, maybe it is his teeth. Who knows. He keeps us on our toes trying to figure him out. Time will tell. Maddox did really well at the party and loved the cake. She got to wear a cute party dress that we got as a hand me down from the neighbors....BEST KIND!! Enjoy the pictures and stay tuned for another update this week hopefully. Eric and the kids and I went to the neighborhood block party this afternoon. We had a great time and I got some cute shots of Kennon and Charlie ( our neighbors that are moving away) and Maddox and Maddie ( a little girl in our playgroup that is just a month older than Maddox). So fun. Where would Eric and I be without our kids! Happy birthday to Kennon. We love you!!
